Happy anniversary on the blog format of WWE PPV Predictions! I began my predicting career with last year’s SummerSlam and even though I had a break and began again with WrestleMania, this has been quite the exciting year. To celebrate all of this, this will be the 1st WWE predictions on my Lost In Travel website.
Yes, it isn’t about travel, but I am truly passionate on this company and I’m really anticipating this (long) SummerSlam in the lively city of Toronto.
There is a lot of matches on the show – 10 in total – but this could change with the possibility of a Roman Reigns match and the tag title being featured on the show. If any new matches get announced, I will add my prediction. Let’s go:
RAW Women’s Championship – Submission Match – Becky Lynch (c) vs Natalya

I’m going to begin with this one because it has actually got a lot more intriguing than I anticipated. Natalya doesn’t really scream “Main Event” worthy for a challenger for Becky’s title on the biggest party of the Summer. With this new personality and the sharpshooter getting the opportunity it deserves (to the expense of poor Ember Moon), I could see this match being fun and interesting.
One thing I can’t see happening though, is Natalya walking away with both arms attached and the RAW Women’s Championship around her waist.
PREDICTION: Becky Lynch
Goldberg vs Dolph Ziggler

Originally, Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz. Expected to be Dolph Ziggler vs Shawn Michaels. Now, Goldberg vs Dolph Ziggler.
This match will hopefully be the redemption Goldberg is wanting from his last match. I don’t think Dolph Ziggler is built up as a perfect competitor for the Icon’s final match, but at least it will show the reason why he is notorious for squashing his opponents. Because, he is going to do exactly that to the Showoff.
PREDICTION: Goldberg
Cruiserweight Championship – Drew Gulak (c) vs Oney Lorcan

I don’t watch 205 Live as neither does the majority of WWE viewers, but from previous witnesses of these guys skills, this looks like it could be an epic match.
Unfortunately, Gulak nor Nese have had the appreciation that Buddy Murphy, Ali and Cedric Alexander brought to that division. It has really stooped to a low as of late. Drake Maverick vs Mike Kannelis being one of the main feuds?! Oney Lorcan surprisingly becoming #1 contender. There isn’t even that many stars on the show to built up an honourable division.
WWE are going to have to bring some star power to 205 Live and fast!
PREDICTION: Drew Gulak
United States Championship – Aj Styles (c) vs Ricochet

I have loved every encounter these men have had in the recent weeks and I don’t expect this one to be any worse. The O.C. are truly becoming one of my favourite things in WWE at the moment.
Styles still deserves to be ultimately phenomenal when this match is said and done so therefore I will be predicting a retention here.
If Ricochet is going to be continuing this feud then he needs some backup. A team like the Street Profits or the Uso’s in his corner will do him good. I discussed this in one of my 1st articles for the popular wrestling news channels: WrestleTalk. Check it out here:

PREDICTION: Aj Styles
Smackdown Women’s Championship – Bayley (c) vs Ember Moon

This has proven quite the difficulty to predict.
I don’t think the build has been entirely good for this match with Ember being on the receiving end of many punishing defeats and weak endings. The match will still be incredible because it is Bayley vs Ember Moon, but I did hope for more.
Due to this booking, I am going to predict Bayley. Any other day, I may have predicted Ember Moon for becoming Smackdown Women’s Champ.
PREDICTION: Bayley
Finn Balor vs ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt

This is one of my most anticipated matches. The winner is clearly going to be the new character of Bray Wyatt – ‘The Fiend’ – deservingly so, but just being able to see this new personality wrestle and perform in the ring. I have high hopes. Just don’t use hokey-pokey magic or critters on the ground WWE!
Finn Balor is reported to be taking a break after SummerSlam, so putting over the Fiend is the best idea. When he returns we can settle with a Fiend vs Demon match!
PREDICTION: Bray Wyatt
Trish Stratus vs Charlotte

This is another hard-hitter of a prediction.
Most people will most likely go for Charlotte; defeating one of the most incredible, iconic women in the entire WWE and cementing herself on the top, like we don’t already know she sunbathes up there.
However, I am going to actually put a wild bet in that Trish Stratus walks away the victor. This is in her hometown of Toronto. Usually this does mean a loss, but I have already put down Natalya for losing. Trish needs that hometown applause and I hope she gets it after a sweet match with the Queen.
PREDICTION: Trish Stratus
WWE Championship – Kofi Kingston (c) vs Randy Orton

You could kinda say this match has had 10 years in the making?
Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton is an already made feud due to the prior history and beef from before. it is a main event worthy rivalry. A good solidification that Kofi Kingston is a megastar in WWE beating one of the greats. However, I would still have rather had some build to get me excited.
Don’t get me wrong this match is going to be a thriller and the video packages are always high quality but I wanted more hype. Instead Randy Orton decided this was a fantastic time to holiday at the breathtaking Maldives.
I still expect the Kingston push to continue past the biggest party of the Summer.
PREDICTION: Kofi Kingston
If KO Loses, He Quits WWE – Kevin Owens vs Shane McMahon

This should be the end. The OmniShane should be over by the end of the night. Kevin Owens should survive the stipulation: if he loses, he has to leave the company and then become one of the biggest babyfaces in the company. So why do I not believe it?
I am actually putting down Shane McMahon as the winner, which does mean Kevin Owens has to fight to get his job back. Each time I predict against the Best In The World it bites me in the behind and I can’t let it happen this time. I would really hope for Owens to beat Shane in dominant fashion and phase him out of TV, but I think we still have a long road ahead for Shane’s story coming to a close.
Maybe it wraps up full circle at Crown Jewel this year on Halloween in the “Progessive” Saudi Arabia?
PREDICTION: Shane McMahon
Universal Championship – Brock Lesnar (c) vs Seth Rollins

This should or may I say MUST be the completion of Brock Lesnar’s conquer over the Universal Championship.
We thought we would get rid of him at WrestleMania 34. We thought we would get rid of him at SummerSlam last year. We thought we would get rid of him at WrestleMania 35. Instead, he has had countless comebacks and a MITB briefcase win. Cashing in on Seth ruined his momentum which has been slowly going down the drain anyways.
Rollins has to win here, for the sake of his career and the sake of WWE being saved from the the big, strong beast-like hands of Brock Lesnar.
PREDICTION: Seth Rollins

With SummerSlam being another reported long show, this needs to be entertaining as I am watching it live and will have to fight my tiredness.
That does mean expect live Tweeting throughout the show!
Let’s hope this does live up to the phrase ‘Biggest party of the Summer’ and it gets WWE in the swing of it once again.
