WrestleMania 36 | Predictions

Hey troops! A lot has happened since my previous WWE predictions. The world may seem like it is ending, we are dying from the boredom of self-isolation and wrestling has had some serious changes to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Unfortunatley, it had to happen during the road to WrestleMania – making Roadblock: End of the Line seem like a tiny speed-bump.

WrestleMania 36 has went from Pirate theme, to “Let’s shy away from the Global Pandemic” theme. WWE are determined to not mention anything that is happening outside of its ‘Mania bubble and is now coining the show to be “Too Big For One Night”.

WrestleMania, this year, will be over two nights (tonight & tomorrow), there will be a shocking attendance of zero and the show was taped a few days ago.

Bravo to WWE for hiding spoilers and allowing this prediction article to go in unknown to what to expect.

However, some of the matches I will predict right now, may not occur due to unpredictableness of this unprecedented situation.

I am entering this post without a clue on what the matchcard will be for each night, so it will be the full rundown. Enjoy!

Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins

If WWE want to gain a fan reception behind the TV, then kicking off the weekend with a massive match, like Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins will be the way to go.

Owens & Rollins can both put on instant classics, can tell an intriguing story and take each other to the limit.

It should be the end to their rivalry and without interference from the disciples of Rollins, this should be the moment Owens proves the Monday Night Messiah wrong.

Owens should pick up the win on Rollins, cleanly, in the middle of his ring, in the Performance Centre.

Prediction: Kevin Owens

NXT Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs Charlotte Flair

NXT can steal the Main Roster show once more!

It is with a sad heart that NXT Takeover: Tampa Bay couldn’t take place tonight, however, we shall get our NXT fix over the course of this weekend.

Ripley will defend her Championship against the Royal Rumble winner, Charlotte.

The brutal Ripley should definitley take The Queen to the limit and the match will be exceptional as both stars are at the top of their games.

I’ve been swerving my pick back and forth quite a lot, however, I’ve finally pulled the trigger on Charlotte becoming NXT Women’s Champion.

Even though I don’t want to see Charlotte holding another title for a little while, Charlotte returning to NXT gives her a new crop of talent to face.

Charlotte vs Belair. Charlotte vs Lerae. Charlotte vs Shirai!

Furthermore, Ripley can move up and dominate on RAW or SmackDown. Ripley vs Lynch. Ripley vs Bayley. Ripley vs Baszler… hehe

Overall, this win could really heighten NXT and freshen up each roster.

Prediction: Charlotte Flair

Elias vs King Corbin

One of the matches I can’t see happening is Elias vs King Corbin. Gotta save that for a crowd…

Corbin threw Elias off the stage last week and I can see that being a factor in writing Elias out of this ‘Mania match.

This would be to set up a match with Mojo Rawley or the ‘Mania host Rob Gronkowski to have a match with King Corbin.

If that is the case, Corbin would lose, however, I’m basing my predictions of this match still taking place.

If it does, Corbin would continue his heel cockiness by hitting the end of days for the win.

Prediction: King Corbin

RAW Tag Team Championship: The Street Profits (c) vs Angel Garza & Austin Theory

I’m sure the plan would’ve been Street Profits vs AOP & Garza & Andrade would’ve had something to do with Rey Mysterio & Humberto Carrillo.

However, the pandemic has been erasing these plans out of WWE history.

Then it became The Street Profits vs Angel Garza & U.S. Champion, Andrade. Weird decision but okay.

However, usual wrestling injuries still take place and Andrade suffered a legitimate rib injury during a match on RAW.

This led the latest announcement being that Austin Theory takes his slot. An even weirder decision, but I can dig it. It sounds really fun and really NXT seeing as the aforementioned Theory just left the brand two weeks ago.

I still believe The Street Profits will pick up the retention here.

Prediction: The Street Profits

Boneyard Match: The Undertaker vs AJ Styles

Undertaker wrestling on the Grandest Stage of Them All (which is the same stage as every show at the moment) must continue. Even coronavirus can’t stop the Phenom.

Also, what the heck is a Boneyard match?!

I’m expecting Styles to prove he is phenomenal here and carry Undertaker into a quite decent match. I can’t see it happening like the usual wrestling match and instead will be cinematic and over the top – using the pre-recording to its advantage.

By the look of things, Undertaker will be the American BadAss gimmick and he is clearly going to win and return for another year, so we can moan about him wrestling another year.

Prediction: Undertaker

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs Sasha Banks vs Tamina vs Lacey Evans vs Naomi

WWE love those multi-women matches on the Showcase of the Immortals. Gotta get enough women on the show as we can! Women’s revolution!

Anyways, this match could reach for lots of swerves and possibilities. Naomi could continue her ‘Mania dominance and become the Champion here.

Lacey Evans could women’s right her way to victory like expected a few months ago.

Even Tamina could have a chance of winning!

A slight chance is still a chance.

And then there is Bayley & Sasha Banks. Boss N’ Hug Connection. Bayley Heel Turn. Bayley winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Snoop Dogg. Lots have happened to this team in the last year and here we are at this. Bayley & Sasha Banks fighting over a huge prize on the biggest show of the year.

People may guess The Boss will stab Bayley in the back per usual, however, unlike people I think it will be the other way about.

Change the system. Freshen the dynamic. Have Bayley be the heel in a feud with Face Banks.

Prediction: Bayley

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn (c) vs Daniel Bryan

If this was the plan or not before the pandemic, who cares? We are getting Sami Zayn vs Daniel Bryan for goodness sake!

Just let them fight. Let them do what they do best and let the title go to whoever is the best.

There is many possibilities to interference. Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro & Drew Gulak could all get involved and even though I’d enjoy some involvement, I hope the ending remains clean and cheerful.

Daniel Bryan winning the Inercontinental Championship will be a wholesome moment which can bring a smile to people during this depressing time.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

Aleister Black vs Bobby Lashley

This match is the most surprising to happen during this surprising time.

Who decided Aleister Black vs Bobby Lashley would be ‘Mania level?

Black was literally involved in the Taker-Styles feud last month and has resorted to a glorified squash match?!

Against a guy that is apparently in South Africa and can’t even compete on the show.

I’m placing Black as my prediction but I’m unsure and disappointed to the reason for this match taking place.

Prediction: Aleister Black

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Miz & Morrison (c) vs The Uso’s vs The New Day (Ladder Match)

This match seems like a legendary goosebump creator!

Well damn, apparently Miz carries symptoms of the Coronavirus and this match probably didn’t take place.

That is ashame and hopefully it can happen one day as it is truly mouth-watering.

If it did happen, I would have believed Miz & Morrison would’ve retained.

Prediction: Miz & Morrison

Otis vs Dolph Ziggler

Now if there was match on this card I could call “mouth-watering” it must be this one!

Otis is finally going to get his hands on Dolph Ziggler and even though it isn’t in front of any fans, the outcome should hopefully bring tears of glee to all.

Otis should win this – unless they continue the story, however, the future is blurred – so having Otis win here will be the most beneficial.

Sonya Deville’s horrible scheme was revealed last night, leaving everyone a bit gobsmacked.

Was the revealer Mustafa Ali? It looked like him, but how does he factor into this feud?

Deville and Ziggler will get there comeuppance here, hopefully.

Prediction: Otis

Women’s Tag Team Championship: Kabuki Warriors (c) vs Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

Did WWE just remember that these belts still exist?

The answer is yes.

Kabuki Warriors will be defending their titles against the team that they beat them for, Bliss & Cross.

The match could be exciting but I guess it is just there so the titles can at least be defended once this year.

As much as I’d like Asuka & Sane to return to singles wrestling as RAW’s women’s roster needs more credibility and these two have that, I think Kabuki Warriors are retaining here.

Prediction: Kabuki Warriors

Last Man Standing: Edge vs Randy Orton

Probably the best told story in long time and definitley the most thrilling spectactle to take place over this weekend.

Edge has his first singles match since he retired nine years ago! Against his long time rival and tag team partner, Randy Orton, no less!

When Edge made his return at this year’s Royal Rumble, the crowd exploded.

I can’t see that happening here due to reasons, regardless, this last man standing is going to be exciting and honestly, I think heart-stopping. Will I be gasping throughout at any thought of Edge’s neck getting bust?

Edge needs this win to prove to Orton and the rest of us that he is there to stay on his terms and that we should expect plenty of Edge dream matches in the near future.

Prediction: Edge

Firefly Funhouse Match: John Cena vs “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

Another match that feels like it is six years in the making.

John Cena has been spoken about when it comes to the burial of Bray Wyatt. When Wyatt lost to Cena at WrestleMania 30, it looked like Wyatt went on a downward spiral to what we call today: “The Fiend”.

Now this Fiend is out for redemption and angered with his loss to Universal Champion, Goldberg, the Fiend must be unleashed.

This bout will be happening in a Firefly Funhouse Match, so I’m expecting House of Horrors style, if anyone remembers those times and for many cinematic shots to be taken,

I can also see Funhouse Wyatt appearing alongside Rambling Rabbit and the crew.

If John Cena wins here, it would be the reburial of Bray Wyatt and I’d hate that if it happened. So I’m predicting The Fiend is victorious here and hopefully during self-isolation, WWE creative can come up with plenty dark, eery and interesting stories for his incredible character.

Prediction: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

RAW Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs Shayna Baszler

A match that is built upon biting each others neck and driving trucks.

Lynch will be defending her RAW Women’s Championship against the scary and dominant Shayna Baszler.

The Queen of Spades was unstoppable in the Elimination Chamber, but is this just a red herring for this Championship match?

I’ve heard the stories about Vince not being too keen on her and this may seem outragous as she is genuinely fierce and strong, but perhaps she eliminated everyone in the Chamber to give Lynch a bigger coronation?

I’m thinking outside the box here as I personally think Ronda Rousey would take the title back from Lynch.

Expect this feud to continue.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

Universal Championship: Goldberg (c) vs Braun Strowman

If COVID-19 has affected a match more than any other, it is this one. Goldberg took the title from Wyatt to put Reigns over in a spear vs spear collision.

However, last night on SmackDown, WWE confirmed it themselves, Roman Reigns has been pulled out of the match for health reasons and it is now Braun Strowman.

They could’ve at least added more excitement to the build instead of just announcing it like it was the plan all along!

So with the Monster Among Men as his opponent, a guy that was beaten by the Artist Collective just over a month ago no less, will he have the chance to shine before reaching Reigns, the eventual outcome?

Or can Goldberg free up time to continue as champion and further his rivalry with Reigns as let’s be honest it needed more than a “I’m next” and a contract signing.

Spear vs Spear is a very interesting dynamic and hopefully this match will happen, in the mean time, I think Goldberg will spear any chances of Braun becoming Universal Champion out the window.

I think this match will main event Night One, but will hopefully, for the safety of the wrestlers and so we don’t have to watch a sloppy match, be fast-paced and a few moves long. Social Distancing people.

Prediction: Goldberg

WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs Drew McIntyre

Wow, this would’ve been a long show if it was left to one night, but we are finally on (I’m guessing it would be) the true main event of the show.

Brock Lesnar for three years running will be defending a championship at WrestleMania, this time his opponent will be the Sexy Scotsman, Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre decimated Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match, furthermore, winning the match and confirming his championship fight with Lesnar for this event.

Usually Brock Lesnar dominates his opponents until they manage to get a sneaky low-blow or collision with the ring-post. Then his competition gets offence until he either wins the match or gets caught in a F5 by the Beast.

Drew McIntyre should be different. McIntyre should enter the match and take Lesnar into a war he hasn’t had since his upset against Goldberg at Survivor Series a few years ago.

Even though there won’t be any crowd atmosphere, Drew should win the WWE Championship and be displayed as WWE’s current face of the company.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre

WrestleMania 36 will be different to any other and it will be memorable for that reason.

I wish everyone enjoys the show both nights, I will be watching it live and wish to communicate over Twitter. I will actually use it this time instead of tweeting once throughout the entire show….

I beg that everyone stays at home during this pandemic and eventually it will be over. Stay safe everyone and I will see you with the next one. ❤
